Victoria Feng: Please introduce yourselves and also your projects.
Russell, Co-Founder of OwlSwap:
OwlSwap is a visualization DEX built on Sui. Our focus is on UI/UX to ensure that our platform is user-friendly for everyone. We started a year ago with six core members, all of whom have extensive experience in blockchain or finance.
Nadia Eldeib, CEO and Co-founder of Ethos Wallet:
We aim to revamp the Sui blockchain wallet and make it a fun and useful part of people’s daily routines. Inspired by the Sui Move language, we believe it can create novel consumer experiences. Our wallet infrastructure supports user-friendly blockchain apps, including a Chrome extension and browser-based explorer. We’ve also developed the first third-party Testnet app, showcasing dynamic objects on Sui, like the game Sui 8192 and Cap AI.
Sean Mikha, Founder & CEO of SuiNS:
SuiNS is a name service on the Sui blockchain. Our team of five developers has been building since October, providing users with a simple way to represent themselves with a .Sui name and send/receive tokens from their wallets. Additionally, we specialize in gaming and NFTs, with the Move service representing contracts on the blockchain. Our aim is to make the Sui blockchain experience safer and more accessible for all users.
Jenny Xu, Founder & CEO of Talofa Games:
Our team includes experienced individuals from EA, 2K, and Riot Games, and we’re VC-funded by Niantic, the creators of Pokémon GO. We’re excited to develop Run Legends, the first fitness game on the Sui blockchain. Our game transforms walking and running into a cooperative fitness battle game, uniting people worldwide. We’re determined to revolutionize the fitness gaming industry and inspire physical activity and socialization. Think of it as an action RPG-like mix of Pokémon GO and running.
Paul Fidika, Founder of Capsules:
We have created a digital asset standard that goes beyond traditional NFTs. We have been working on this since October, with the goal of making digital assets accessible to everyone, rather than just viewed as a financial product for investment. We want to integrate them into video games, and we will be at GDC next week to showcase our tools. Our vision is to create a consumer product that can be bought and sold for as little as $5 to $10.
Victoria Feng: What sets the Sui blockchain apart from other blockchains and contributes to its growing popularity?
Sean Mikha:
The Sui blockchain is innovative in infrastructure and tokenomics, allowing for scalability and low gas prices. It offers exciting opportunities for gaming, NFTs, and DeFi protocols. The Move programming language is more secure than Solidity, enabling efficient blockchain development. The Mysten team has built a disruptive technology attracting attention for its unique capabilities.
Paul Fidika:
From a technical standpoint, Move’s programming model outperforms other languages. My team, which includes two MetaPlex developers, is impressed by the dynamic NFTs that are possible on Sui. On Solana, what is simple on Sui becomes complex, as changing a single field on an NFT requires minting a new one. Gasless or sponsored transactions are also exciting developments. Ideally, wallets should remove gas costs from the user interface and subsidize them through dapps or the wallet itself, eliminating friction for users and making transactions effortless.
Russell:
As a non-technical person, I’m impressed by the innovative Move language and its potential to address DeFi concerns. Despite Solidity’s wider user base, we believe Move can solve previously unsolvable problems and create a brighter future. Our team prioritizes product quality over short-term profits and has delayed launching to ensure the best outcome. We have had positive experiences working with Mysten, an organized and mature team focused on long-term goals.
Nadia Eldeib:
Sui Move is a key differentiator, making Sui faster, safer, and easier to build apps. Dynamic NFTs and low latency enable on-chain games and interactive apps. With Sui, creativity is the constraint, not the language. Wallets must go beyond transactional to being fluid and contextual. We’ve optimized transactions for a friendlier, safer, and more fun user experience.
Victoria Feng: Could you explain how Sui Move differs from Solidity or Rust?
Nadia Eldeib:
Sui Move simplifies coding, making it more readable and easier to understand than Rust or Solidity. It reduces complexity, and cost, and frees up time for creative app building. Other chains have also adopted Sui Move, enhancing the developer experience. Paul’s presentation at the Sui Builder House provides expert insights into Sui Move.
Paul Fidika:
Ethereum necessitates that each smart contract defines its level of ownership, which can be challenging to manage. Additionally, Ethereum employs a substantial table controlled by a program to depict ownership. In contrast, Sui Move employs actual objects that symbolize ownership, making it more user-friendly. Furthermore, there is a common understanding of ownership and objects in Sui Move, making it simpler for other programs to comprehend. In summary, Sui Move provides a more straightforward and reusable ownership method than Ethereum.
Sean Mikha:
I don’t have a strong opinion on the nuances between Solidity and Move, but based on my experience managing dev teams in the crypto space, our productivity on Sui Move is remarkably high. For instance, creating a complicated auction mechanism for Mainnet on Sui Move takes significantly less time than it would on Solidity. The object-oriented methodology also enables more intuitive and prompt development, resulting in impressive dap quality on Sui DevNet.
Victoria Feng: How do you intend to utilize Sui technology to differentiate your product from existing options in the market and compare it with other blockchain products?
Jenny Xu:
Run Legends is a unique fitness game that allows players to participate synchronously with friends from anywhere in the world, using their movements to control their characters. In multiplayer mode, players collaborate to defeat enemies like Chad and the Critical Grandma. NFTs in the game are gear pieces with infused powers, earned through events, crafting, or whitelist inclusion. The NFTs are designed to be entertaining to play with, rather than employing traditional play-to-earn mechanics, and can be dynamically morphed in-game to adjust gameplay and sentimental value. The game’s Web2 experience is free and seamless, with no wallets or gas fees required, and new players can easily explore and invest in the optional layer of excitement.
Russell:
We prioritize client security and believe that the Move language is one of the safest options for DeFi. Our DEX is unique, featuring a visualization platform with customizable advanced graphs and technical indicators that can be shared with others. Traders can communicate and follow successful traders, with a subscription model possibility. Our platform includes mini-games for more enjoyable trading and the chance to win tokens. Furthermore, our token-hunting bot allows users to input orders before tokens are listed and execute them immediately after liquidity is available.
Nadia Eldeib:
MetaMask has set the user experience standard in the wallet world. However, we believe that the wallet needs a complete redesign to offer more secure, fun, and straightforward experiences. Our aim is to create patterns and user experiences that serve applications across different use cases for mainstream users. We intend to make the wallet more flexible, with transparent and empowering experiences for both new and experienced users. We draw inspiration from Apple’s paradigm shift in Web2 computing and aim to do the same for Web3 consumers. Our objective is to develop a new wallet that serves developers and end-users equally.
Sean Mikha:
We have developed a unique approach to blockchain naming services with two distinct domains: .Sui for individuals and .Move for companies and contracts. This makes it easy to verify ownership and legitimacy, ensuring a secure experience. Our partnership with builders like Ethos Wallet integrates these features into the user interface. Our platform’s infrastructure enables us to build new, innovative features not possible on other blockchains. This provides users with a better experience and more functionality, all while keeping costs low.
Paul Fidika:
Compared to other blockchains, our platform treats digital assets as more than just financial assets, with unique tools and mindsets. Consumer goods can have different prices for different people, and we provide market transferability rules with creators’ control over asset transferability to prevent unauthorized transfer and scalping. This level of control is not currently available on other chains focused on financial use cases.
Victoria Feng: How do you plan to serve customers outside of the Sui ecosystem?
Russell:
We are currently on Sui and have considered multiple blockchains for our projects. However, after researching, we believe Sui holds the most potential. Our focus is on building a strong product and expanding our offerings before exploring other options. Ultimately, we aim to become a hub of tools and data that traders can use to improve their skills, rather than just a DEX.
Sean Mikha:
Our naming service serves as a gateway to your identity, particularly for non-blockchain users. We strive to onboard them by emphasizing culture and making blockchain more accessible. Currently, our focus is on gaming, and we’re incorporating familiar features such as friends lists and game tracking similar to Steam. This will enable us to reach a broader audience that can leverage the benefits of blockchain technology.
Nadia Eldeib:
We are dedicated to equipping builders and users with the necessary resources to create exceptional consumer products and explore new use cases on Sui. Our blog is a platform where we share our reasons for choosing Sui, its advantages, and examples of dynamic NFTs. With our experience in Web2 and Ethereum, we are enthusiastic about encouraging and supporting both developers and users who are new to blockchain technology.
Jenny Xu:
Our aim is to reach a wide audience of players, including the two billion mobile gamers worldwide. We want everyone to enjoy playing Run Legends and our upcoming games, and we intend to expand to multiple Web3 products once we integrate with Sui. Ultimately, our goal is to provide seamless experiences across various chains, with the game technology working in the background. We are committed to serving a billion users and delivering the best gaming experiences possible.
Paul Fidika:
Our objective is to establish a strong foothold in the technical sphere, rendering building on other chains obsolete. We seek to migrate NFT projects and games to Sui and become the primary competitor for hosting a server with Unity. Moreover, we intend to create a thriving trading ecosystem by incentivizing users to transfer funds from their bank accounts, Bitcoin, Ethereum, wrapped Bitcoin, and wrapped Ethereum to Sui. This will allow them to buy and sell assets on our marketplace with ease.
Victoria Feng: What is the most significant announcement from your project?
Nadia Eldeib:
We are thrilled to enhance the wallet application experience with a redesigned wallet explorer currently in beta. It offers seamless app experiences for all Sui applications. Additionally, we are developing a mobile application to serve as a companion to core experiences, simplifying the discovery and use of these apps for Ethos Wallet users. Our objective is to provide a personalized, engaging, and delightful home base experience that distinguishes itself from conventional crypto wallets.
Sean Mikha:
Sui is presently on DevNet, and TestNet will be accessible shortly. You can interact with dapps and wallets on our service without incurring any costs. You can also register a name on our website, which will not be permanent when Mainnet launches. Nonetheless, before that, we will have special periods where minting a name will earn you a rare image. We have collaborated with some of the finest NFT artists on the Sui blockchain for this purpose. We will also have promotions and giveaways for those who obtain one.
Jenny Xu:
Our game, Run Legends, is now open for pre-order on TestFlight, Apple App Store, and Google Play Store. Be the first to play on launch day by downloading the game. Sign up for the open beta on TestFlight and compete on the leaderboards. Pre-order and join our Discord to get whitelisted for a free NFT.
Victoria Feng:
On behalf of Brendan, a key partnership with Sui Global, I will share some info. Sui Global promotes Sui blockchain development and has a new service, Natural, offering growth services like consulting, engagement, testing, and tokenomics strategies. Recently, they worked with upcoming wallets, providing 3M+ impressions and 25K+ sign-ups in 30 days. Sui Global aims to help builders focus on building while they handle the rest.
